How to Run Floor Plan Pattern Search

Use Pattern Search to find areas with repeated graphical patterns on a floor plan. Use Color Search instead when color identifies the areas. Before you start, create an Area Pattern legend with examples of the patterns you need.

Section titled “Run the search”
  1. Open AI Workbench.
  2. Select Floor Plan.
  3. Under Area, select Pattern Search.
  4. Select your Area Pattern legend under Choose Legend Set.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Select Entire Page, Draw Rectangle, or Draw Polygon.
  7. If you selected Draw Rectangle or Draw Polygon, draw the search region on the plan.
  8. If you need a destination folder, select it with Select Folder.
  9. Select Run.

After you select Entire Page or finish the drawing, the wizard goes to the folder step.

You can also start the search from an Area Pattern legend. Select the legend rows, then select Run Pattern Search.

Review the results

When the search completes, Bobyard opens the review automatically. Review the detected polygons.

You now have detected areas to review. Next, use the floor plan takeoff tools.
